School Attendance

Just a quick reminder to parents and carers about school attendance. As a school we regularly monitor attendance and punctuality and have noticed a decline in our whole school attendance and an increase in children arriving late in a morning.

Parents, carers AND school both have a legal duty for attendance, which is why we regularly remind parents about it, and it is a legal requirement for each and every child to access regular education.

We do understand that there are a lot of illnesses going around, but we ask that parent's follow the NHS guidelines regarding school attendance which can be found here: https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/is-my-child-too-ill-for-school/.

We'd also like to take this opportunity to remind parents and carers about not taking holidays in term time. The government have implemented much stricter fining strategies from August 2024 and not only has the fine amount gone up in price, it also comes with stricter guidelines. If parent's take 3 holidays within a rolling 3 year period, they could end up being prosecuted and taking to court. This is not something that has been set up by our school, it is something that has been enforced by the government and we want to make sure all parent's are aware of the implications of this to protect them from fines and the possibility of prosecution in the future. The official guidance on this can be found here: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/66bf300da44f1c4c23e5bd1b/Working_together_to_improve_school_attendance_-_August_2024.pdf

I have attached some more information regarding school attendance to this post and encourage everyone to read through it when they get the chance. All of this information can also be found on our website (https://www.leacp.lancs.sch.uk/page/?title=School+Attendance&pid=204)
